About Us

My home in the hills is a partnership firm set up to promote ecologically sound contemporary all seasonal homes in the Kumaon.

We are a group of professionals with 25 years of design and construction experience building in India who believe in appropriate low cost locally available technology and resources. Our projects are designed and developed by architects specializing in green hill homes. Each property is eco- friendly and vaastu compliant; and designed to minimize the ecological footprint of construction. The team is constantly striving to find technologies with low impacts on climate. And works largely with local materials and traditional technologies.

Gautam Bhatia, a Delhi-based architect, has built extensively in the hills of Uttaranchal. His recent projects include Monolith Resorts, Bhimtal, and Treetops Country-Inn, Corbett Park. He is presently designing and constructing the Himalaya Arts Centre, Kausani, Sunvalley Resort, Nainital, and a retreat in Sattal. All his work is consistent with current ecological practices, and harnesses local materials and techniques into contemporary expression.

Richa Pant, a development professional specialising in Business Economics and Environmental Law, is well-acquainted with land laws and building practices in the hills. An ardent naturalist and conservationist, Richa is a practitioner of the traditional science of vaastu. She has travelled widely across various mountain regions - from the Andes to the Alps and the Himalayas – studying traditional cultures and settlements. Her own home is in Ranikhet, in Kumaon.
